This page consolidates access to resources related to the Public Landbot Project.
Public Landbot Project Second Life Group
There is now a group in Second Life to communicate on issues related to the project. It is open enrollment. Search Groups for Public Landbot Project and join today.
Source Code Repository
An initial source code repository for the project has been deployed.
You can find the repository at:
http://code.google.com/p/sl-public-landbot-project/
If you are a developer interested in being part of the project, please ask FWord Utorid to be added to the project.
Additional resources which could be added later are an online source code viewer such as ViewVC.
eBay Account
In order to ensure that the public is properly informed of the availability of our landbot, we will likely post an advertisement for support services on eBay. This will allow our landbot to appear in the same location as existing landbots, at a reduced cost.
Documentation
Documentation of the source code is a component of the project scope. Resources for this will be determined at a later date.
Wiki
To provide a glossary of unfamiliar terms and a knowledge base related to this process, a wiki could be beneficial.
Issue Tracking
A long term objective for this process is a mechanism to track issues throughout the development cycle. We are presently looking for resources on this.
Mailing List
A mailing list may provide another communications channel for interested parties. This is a long term objective.
IRC Channel
An IRC channel for this project may be useful for communicating with those interested in the project. This is under consideration.
Website / Domain / Hosting
For the time being this site is hosted on WordPress and resources will be linked to on other services. If there is a demand, other resource requirements will arise and be documented here.
Second Life Accounts
A number of premium accounts may need to be used for testing purchases. How this will be handled is to be determined.
Beta Testers
When the initial version is prepared we will require a collection of individuals to test the software under circumstances which can be controlled.
Hardware / Software
At present, I am currently limited to testing on Microsoft Windows Vista. Other residents may be on other platforms. In the long term a multiplatform approach will be beneficial to all residents. In order to test software on these platforms it is of course beneficial to have access to hardware which runs them. Uncertain as yet how this will be obtained, simply making notes for the time being.
Legal
Little Gray in Second Life has agreed to provide legal representation and insight for this project.
Code submissions
Others have expressed an interest in this process and have communicated to me a desire to contribute code to the project. More details will follow. Any help in creating a more efficient landbot for the public use is certainly welcome. There will be legal issues with regards to source code submissions.
Group For Testing Deed Functions
It will likely be valuable to have a group for testing functions with regards to group owned land
Land For Testing
In order to appropriately test land purchasing functionality, some parcels of land that can be bought and sold back and forth frequently will be useful.
In order to avoid accidental sale to an existing landbot, the process by which these tests are performed should include specifying precisely who the land is to be sold to…. In this instance, it should be one of the aforementioned accounts described.
‘Bases’
It could be viable to leverage some low lag simulators as home for the searching bots to optimize their performance.
